In 2010, a consulting company that I hired to improve my office's efficiency told me that I was providing service above and beyond higher volume bankruptcy law firms in Arizona. They advised that I could lower my standards and still be better than most. I was also told that I could cut overhead by hiring "salespeople" to meet with potential clients before the attorney sits down with them. That way, I could have one attorney handle more cases and save on the expense of high paid attorneys on my payroll. I did not take their advice.
Fees Related To Bankruptcy
Why would I disregard advice that I paid good money to get? Because I feel that filing bankruptcy is one of the most difficult decisions of your life. You should receive the best possible care and attention in and during the entire process. This means that you will meet with an attorney first in my office. And, you can be assured that there has been no decrease in staff or dilution of quality of customer service. This decision has been a difficult one since there is so much competition in the Phoenix area for bankruptcy attorneys, with many of them offering fees with which my office cannot compete. Many of these attorneys can afford to offer these fees because they have just opened their offices during the past year or two and are still in the growing phase of the business' maturity. What they do not know is that those fees are not sustainable without a sacrifice to customer service. I recently sat in on a dismissal hearing for a case where I heard a bankruptcy lawyer who charges extremely low fees get scolded by a Judge for failure to prosecute a case in a timely manner. This bankruptcy lawyer's response was that he has "just been very busy". This lawyer's client got a great legal fee, but is not getting great legal representation and the case is in peril of dismissal.
